One of Australia's most talented artist's, Timomatic who recently got signed to Sony Music Australia released his debut single "Set It Off" last month and Urban Empire HQ had a chance to interview the talented artist. In the interview, Timomatic talks about how he got into the music industry, the internet, what to expect from his new album and more...

UEHQ: So when did your passion for dancing start and what got you interested in it?

Timomatic: I was like 10-11 when i first kinda watch and got into Michael Jackson and it really kicked off from there, I mean i was always like always into dancing in general being younger and being part of an African family, growing around music and what not, but 10-11 is when i was like wow this is amazing i really want to do this as part of something the future.

UEHQ. What inspired you to start singing?

Timomatic: I always lived in a home that was full of music, and my sister sang a lot. She was always looking at Michael Jackson knowing that he was the total entertainer and that included singing. I think i always wanted it in the back of my head to adding it to my skills. The only thing is dancing came natural to me and singing didn't, so i had to really work hard. I could write songs before i could actually sing them which was really strange but that's how it kinda came about.

UEHQ: You where a finalist on Australia’s Got Talent 2011, what made you decide to go on the show?

Timomatic: Before that, 2009 i did So You Think You Can Dance and that was cool but after that i was always still into my music and heavily writing and recording at that time that no one really paid attention to it, so i knew i had to do a show that was as big if not bigger than "So You Think You Can Dance," to get peoples attention on music and that i actually sing as well, i write music and kinda put it all together and Australia’s Got Talent was the perfect show because it was just basically like do whatever you want and will just back you and help you kind of like get your vision up onto the stage, so that why i end up choosing to do the show.

UEHQ: Since signing with Sony Music Australia, how has your music journey been so far?

Timomatic: It's been crazy man... it's been really good. I've been able to meet a lot of cool influetial people and really kinda just grow as an artist a lot more writing sessions an i've been able to release my first single with them which has been great and it's climbing up the charts, people are getting behind it, so it's been good, they've been supportive of kind of letting be. They haven't been like all right this is what you're doing, these are the songs you're doing... it hasn't been like that at all. They've been like we know you have a vision and you are focussed and you know what you want, so let's work together.

UEHQ. Your Debut Single "Set It Off" came out last month, can you please tell us a bit a about that record, how did that record come about?

Timomatic: After i got signed i was doing a few co-writes here and there and i co-wrote with these guys that are called DNA who've co-witten for Jessica Mauboy, Stan Walker, people like that and i explained to them the kind of vision i wanted, that i wanted a song that was about being real cool but about having fun...

UEHQ: When should fans expect your album to drop and do you have a title for it yet?

Timomatic: I'm still working on the material for the album. I'll be dropping another single earlier in the new year first but definitely sometime in the first half of the year i'll have time to drop the album.

UEHQ: Can you please let us know what fans should expect from the album?

Timomatic: The album will be very much upbeat you know, upbeat tracks, similar to the single, you know, great melody's and they'll be a couple slow jams on there, tracks that kinda really pull at the heart strings and i want it to be eclectic were people from all kinda walks of life, were people from all kinds of music genres can kinda get something out of and feel something from. I'm a very eclectic artist and i like listening to whole ranges of music from John Mayer to Michael Jackson to Drake so all these influences will kinda create this package. For one thing people will wanna dance to the album, that'll be the main thing.

UEHQ. What are your thoughts on the Internet and how it's affected/helped the music industry, do you think it's positive?

Timomatic: The music industry is always bound to evolve, and it has evolved through the internet and i think as an artist that wants to make it in such a saturated internet driven industry that it is now, you've got to embrace it and use it as a tool. I think it makes it harder for artists to really establish themselves because there is so much content now as opposed to back in the day, if you wanted to see the latest film clips you had to tune into Rage on TV or something like that but now it's like you can watch exactly what you want, when you want it, how you wanna watch it. But it's cool man, regardless of how evolved the internet's goes i think real music, real artistry real entertainment will always kinda cut through and a person that represents that is Adele.

UEHQ: What advice would you give to any upcoming artist out there trying to make in the music business?

Timomatic: Firstly, you've got to understand that, you've got to have a passion for it above all things because if you do not have a passion for it you will not last a second because it gets so much harder before it gets easier, apply yourself to forever learning. I put it on the two things, you've got to be hungry and you've got to be humble. Your hunger as in you gotta keep learning, always pushing yourself, always keep training, always bettering your craft but you've gotta be humble, too many people i guess get a bit of fame and become a*****, because it's like ahh i'm big now, so u've gotta stay humble and understand that there's always gonna be someone bigger than you so hunger and humility, that's how it is.

UEHQ: True well on Behalf of Urban Empire HQ thanks for having this interview with us we really appreciate it.

Timomatic: I appreciated that.
