Prodigy is back in the rap game.

The Queens rapper, born Albert Johnson, was released from a New York state prison Monday after serving three years for criminal possession of a weapon.

Best known as half of the group Mobb Depp, he was arrested in 2006 with longtime producer Alan (The Alchemist) Maman when police found a gun in his glove compartment during a traffic stop.

He pleaded guilty and was sentenced to five years in prison, but he was released early for good behavior.

Similar to rappers like T.I. and Lil' Wayne -- who connected with fans and worked on their next hits while in prison -- Prodigy, 36, plans to release an autobiography on his rise to rap star and time spent in prison.

The book, "My Infamous Life: The Autobiography of Mobb Deep's Prodigy," is set to hit stores April 19. Publisher Simon and Schuster said he has a long list of promotional appearances planned - including one in Brooklyn next month.

He also is expected to return to the studio to start recording some new tracks.

"Prodigy will be back in a couple of days!!! Be prepared for another Mobb Depp classic!!!!" the group wrote on its Facebook page.
