Nas reveals the cover art for his new single "The Don."
Nas has revealed the cover art for his new single "The Don," premiering tonight on Funkmaster Flex's show on Hot 97.
The single, assumed to be off his upcoming untitled album, comes in the wake of his previous street single "Nasty." It is currently unclear when the LP will release.
Production duo Da Internz recently spoke on the album, likening it to It Was Written in terms of style and lyricism.
“This Nas album is not the Nas that is just like, This is cool. This is cute,” said Tuo. “This is the Nas like really, ‘I’m trying to tear the skin off your face.’ He’s not playing around. Nas is taking you back to the lyrics and concepts like It Was Written.”

Nas Reflects On Issues With Tupac And Working With Dr. Dre
Posted by Canrus
On 13:09
Recently, Nas spoke on the 10th anniversary of Stillmatic. Today, God’s Son reflects on the album which garnered his first platinum plaque, 1996’s It Was Written. In an interview with XXL’s Carl Chery, he speaks on reaching the one million mark on that LP, working with Dr. Dre in the midst of the East Coast/West Coast beef, and Tupac having issues with him following “Street Dreams.”
For “Street Dreams” what was the process like to clear the Eurythmics “Sweet Dreams” sample?
Oh, they took everything. They took everything. Word. For real.
That song also partially led to ‘Pac taking issue with you ’cause he had the same track on All Eyez on Me that he released that same year. What was your reaction when you heard that ‘Pac accused you of taking the same track?
See, I was always into ‘Pac early before his controversial side blew up all over America and the world. I was already into his music. I saw him as a kindred spirit, I saw him as a brother, so it was like beefin’ with your brother. Not even beefin’, it felt like, your brother over there’s a little mad. This is an issue right now, so you gotta deal with it.
Below, Nas talks his studio experience with Dr. Dre and Lauryn Hill….
You worked with Dr. Dre in the middle of the East Coast/West Coast feud. What was the response on the East Coast?
It was unbelievable ‘cause Dre had The Chronic, he had Doggystle. And really that was it. So it was unbelievable. It was crazy.
So nobody was like, “Why you working with dude?”
Nah, they thought, “Wow, it’s amazing. It fucked ‘em up. Then Biggie had him and Bone Thugs. Nice move. I was like, “Wow, nice move.”
Do you feel like the Lauryn Hill has gained even more value over the years considering she doesn’t work with rappers anymore?
Yeah, yeah. That’s one of the reasons. All records gain value through the years, but definitely that. Lauryn’s one of those. True to the core at this shit. Everything about her, from her performance… she’s last of a dying breed.

Nas has completed 20 years in Hip-Hop and XXL has paid tribute to the legend by putting him on the cover of their November issue which hits news stands on October 25th. In the issue, he’s interviewed by Tyler, The Creator where they discuss music, religion, family, drugs, the Internet and much more. Below is an excerpt.
“Are you, like—this question might catch you off guard, but I ask myself this—like, when you wake up, like, are you happy,” Tyler asked. “Like, are you satisfied how everything turned out?”
“Dawg, I was naming my album Life Is Good because of how happy I am about how happy things have turned out,” Nas answered. “Sometimes I may wake up and wish my kids were living with me. That’s the only thing, you know what I mean? Our loved ones that are not around no more, like my mom. That’s the only thing. But other than that, everything is great, even when I’m alone. Even when there’s no one around.”

New Mixtape: DJ Rhude – ‘Nas: The Found Tapes’
Posted by Canrus
On 07:24
While Nas reconsiders releasing The Lost Tapes II, DJ Rhude has gone ahead and made his own version of the project. The Found Tapes compiles a slew of tracks we've heard over the years from the Queensbridge MC, be it through online leaks or random spins on the radio. There's the original version of "Hope," a remix of "Street's Disciple" with Kool G. Rap, and "Projects 2 Hot," which features 50 Cent and Nature. Rhude has also done his best to master each track and make them CD quality. Yeah, it should go without saying that you should be downloading this now.
You can stream the mixtape below and download it here.
