RZA Talks Producing On ‘Watch The Throne’

Posted by Canrus On 08:32

Rolling Stone caught up with RZA and asked him about how he got involved with the Watch The Throne project. The Wu-Tang member was responsible for producing a track called ‘New Day’, which is supposedly one of the highlights of the album.
“I’m really honored to be a part of the project. These two are obviously very capable in their own right, so to include me in this classic project is a testament of how much respect we share for one another. Kanye asked me to send tracks while they were in Australia, I just thought I would send some shit that would be rugged. I know they can find the poppy, hip-hop places, but I wanted to send them some real edgy shit. Apparently they thought they were great – Kanye said, ‘Send some more of that Wu shit!’”
He goes on to state that he was a fan of the ‘Best Of Both Worlds’ album Jay did with R. Kelly back in 2002:
“In the past, when Jay-Z did Best of Both Worlds with R. Kelly, I thought it was a great album but the campaign went south because of personalities. With this project, it’s the best of many worlds. These two guys have a great chemistry and a great relationship. I’m excited.”

New Music: The RZA – Only The Rugged Survive

Posted by Canrus On 03:54

Here’s a new RZA solo cut off the new Wu-Tang album, Legendary Weapons, which is dropping on E1 on June 28th and will feature production from Noah Rubin, Fizzy Womack bka Lil Fame and Andrew Kelly.
More info:
The Wu-Tang Clan is one of rap music’s longest running and most influential groups. Over the last two years the group has made a remarkable return to form. Beginning with E1′s 2009 release “Wu-Tang: Chamber Music” and continuing with projects such as “Wu-Massacre”, Ghostface Killah’s “Apollo Kids”, Raekwon’s “Only Built For Cuban Linx 2″ and “Wu-Tang vs Shoalin” they have released a series of critically acclaimed and commercially successful projects.
Wu-Tang: Legendary Weapons will continue in that streak. This album includes a heavy dose of Ghostface Killah (he is featured on 8 of the albums 11 songs) alongside The RZA and all of the other core Wu- Tang group members. Dark, raw tracks produced by The RZA together with members of the Brooklyn based band The Revelations provide a solid foundation for the crew’s tales of violent New York street life and debauchery.
