Frank Ocean Performs At Coachella 2012 (Full Set)

Posted by Canrus On 17:52

Earlier today, Frank Ocean performed in front of thousands of fans at The Coachella Valley Music and Arts Annual Festival in Indio, California which was streamed live across the world. Frank’s set consisted of his major hits like ‘Novacane’, ‘Voodoo’, ‘Whip Appeal’, ‘Swim Good’, ‘Thing About You’ and more. However, the Def Jam singer’s performance did not go on too smoothly as he had to stop in between a couple of songs, apparently due to sound issues.

If you missed the stream, you can watch the entire set after the jump.

“Hotel California” Evicts Frank Ocean

Posted by Canrus On 12:47

Apparently, the Eagles are threatening to sue Frankie for his rendition of their track “Hotel California”. On Nostalgia, Ultra he flips the song into “American Wedding”. Frank turned to his tumblr page and reacted to the pending lawsuit.

Don henley(’s label—Rhino) is apparently intimidated by my rendition of Hotel California..

He (They) threatened to sue if I perform it again. I think that’s fuckin awesome. I guess if I play it at coachella it’ll cost me a couple hundred racks. If I don’t show up to court, it’ll be a judgement against me & will probably show up on my credit report. Oh well. I try to buy my shit cash anyway. They also asked that I release a statement expressing my admiration for Mr. Henley, along with my assistance pulling it off the web as much as possible. Shit’s weird. Ain’t this guy rich as fuck? Why sue the new guy? I didn’t make a dime off that song. I released it for free. If anything I’m paying homage.

Frank Ocean Covers FADER

Posted by Canrus On 08:32

One of 2011’s most celebrated lyricist, Frank Ocean, lands his first official solo magazine cover in the form of The Fader’s Fall Fashion Issue. Ocean’s claim to fame is this year’s imaginative ‘nostalgia, ULTRA’. The singer’s first single, ‘Novacane’, has peaked at No. 17 on the Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop songs chart and cracked Billboard Hot 100. The in demand artist, also makes not one, but two appearances on one of the most anticipated releases this year, Jay-Z & Kanye West’s ‘Watch The Throne’. Check out an excerpt from the full feature below.

When he was nine, Frank Ocean’s godfather subscribed him to Robb Report, a magazine for the ultra-rich. Less interested in fiduciary smarts, it’s a catalog of conspicuous consumption, highlighting tropical vacations, invaluable antiques and, as Ocean came to know, really expensive cars. Though he comes from a middle class family, he obsessively read the magazine’s classified ads, fixating on exorbitantly priced used Bentleys and Maybachs. “I would just fall in love with all their cars. That was the start.” Ocean, whowas born Christopher Breaux (and goes by Lonny to friends), downscaled his material desires, and when he was 13, began going door-to-door, detailing cars for cash. “I would bring all my supplies. Literally, it was like a movie, I had a wagon, those long red wagons, like a Radio Flyer-type wagon, and I used to buy my own soaps.”

New music from the man who surprised everyone by landing two guest spots on Watch The Throne and a possible feature on Jay-Z’s next solo album. It isn’t clear if this is an old, unreleased track or if it was supposed to be on the Nostalgia/Lite EP that failed to drop on Tuesday; perhaps we’ll be getting a full album this soon?
